Canadian taxi fleet to feature 1,100 hybrids and EVs

The firm provides close to five million rides on the Island of Montreal each year, and has 110 hybrid and electric vehicles on its fleet. It is hoping to replace the entire fleet by 2020.

Dominique Roy, President and CEO of Taxi Diamond, said: “To support [drivers] in this effort and encourage them to start now to replace vehicles that are less fuel efficient, we are offering them incentives such as free installation of their cab equipment from their old vehicle to the new one and 500 Air Miles® reward miles as a bonus.

“We're also putting the finishing touches on a partnership to help our taxi owners finance the purchase or lease of green vehicles.”
