Electric Volkswagen ID.4 Pro Performance models open for orders
Volkswagen has opened orders for the series versions of its ID.4 electric SUV.
Following on from the ID.4 1st Edition launched two months ago, the ID.4 Pro Performance will be available in Life, Family and Max specifications, priced from £41,570 and offering up to 323 miles of range (WLTP).
As with the limited-run 1st Edition, the Pro Performance line-up features a 204hp electric motor powered by a 77kWh battery – Pure models with a 52kWh battery will go on sale in the coming months.
Charging via a 125kW rapid charger can give all Pro Performance models up to 199 miles of range in 30 minutes. Charging to 80% from a DC, CCS charge point takes 38 minutes, while a 7.2kW home charger can give a full charge in around 11 hours.
Like the 1st Edition, the Pro Performance line-ups use pre-configured fixed equipment packs, cutting down on options to simplify both ordering for customers but also the WLTP valuation process.
The entry-level Life Pro Performance is predicted to be the top seller among the ID.4 line-up and features the Interior Style Package, bringing 30-colour ambient lighting, split-folding rear seats with a load-through hatch and centre armrest, and play and pause pedals. The Infotainment Package adds in a 10-inch Discover Pro touchscreen system with navigation, and inductive smartphone charging. The Comfort Package brings a heated, infrared-reflecting, sound-insulated windscreen, two front and two rear USB ports, two-zone climate control and heating for the front seats and steering wheel.
Priced from £45,520, the Family Pro Performance adds in 19-inch alloy wheels and upgraded equipment packs, giving LED lighting details, privacy glass for the rear windows and a large panoramic sunroof, as well as a three-zone climate control system, a rear-view camera and keyless access.
The Max Pro Performance, priced from £49,990, again adds more comprehensive packs; highlights include a larger 12-inch Discover Max infotainment system with augmented reality head-up display, plus sport seats with integrated headrests, 12-way adjustment and heating for both front seats.
Enhanced driver assistance equipment on the Max adds in travel assist, lane assist, emergency assist and side assist systems, and area view cameras to support parking. The tailgate can now be remotely unlocked and operated via electric operation with sensor control, and the ID.4 Max also gets adaptive dampers for customisable suspension characteristics, as well as progressive steering.
Various extra styling features are available as options across the range, along with a folding tow bar; the ID.4 Pro Performance has a towing capacity of up to 1,000kg.
ID.4 Pro Performance deliveries are expected to start during the first week of May. Like the ID.3, they will be delivered to customers as a ‘net climate-neutral product’ according to independent auditing body TÜV Nord.
