Fleet associations support Silverstone Fleet Show

The three main trade associations, the Association of Car Fleet Operators (ACFO), the Institute of Car Fleet Management (ICFM) and the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA), have all re-booked stands at this year’s Show on Tuesday 12 May at the world-famous motor racing venue.

They will again be situated in the main indoor exhibition area in halls 1-3 of the Silverstone Wing, which will be home to over 60 exhibitors demonstrating some of the latest developments, products and services in the fleet arena.

ACFO chairman John Pryor said: ‘ACFO is delighted to be able to support Fleet World’s Fleet Show at Silverstone again this year.

‘Its success demonstrates the ever growing importance of fleet within business today, and we hope that current and prospective members will take the opportunity to visit the ACFO stand where we can update them on the programme for 2015.’

Peter Eldridge, director of the ICFM, commented: ‘We are delighted to support the Fleet World Fleet Show 2015 as we see this event as an important inclusion for the ICFM calendar.

‘The Show provides us with an excellent opportunity to meet and greet many of our existing members attending the show, and also develop potential new relationships with the wide range of industry professionals also present on the day.’

Toby Poston, director of communications and external relations at the BVRLA, added: ‘The BVRLA is delighted to have a presence at such a key event in the fleet industry calendar. The Fleet Show is a great opportunity to network with members and industry stakeholders, while raising awareness of the association amongst fleet managers.’

The associations’ repeated support for this year’s sell-out event was welcomed by the Show organizers.

‘We are delighted that the industry’s three main associations have again given their backing to this year’s Fleet Show by confirming their attendance at the event,’ said Jerry Ramsdale, Show organizer and publishing director of Fleet World.

‘One of our aims in staging the event is to bring together under one roof as many aspects of the fleet industry as possible. The presence of ACFO, the ICFM and the BVRLA gives our Show visitors just another reason to attend what promises to be another outstanding and record-breaking event,’ he said.

As well as the chance to meet up with the three main trade associations, Show visitors have a wide variety of activities in which they can participate.

These include the highly successful fleet training sessions first introduced last year and which involve a series of interactive workshops run by practising fleet managers for anyone wanting to find out more about fleet management.

The workshops will tackle four key fleet topics: the fundamentals of fleet management, risk management, environmental management and procurement, and will again encourage audience participation and feedback.

Each session will be chaired by Dennis Dugen, car fleet and employee benefits manager for professional consultancy, WSP UK, one of last year’s presenters.

He will be joined by an experienced panel of current or former fleet managers comprising Andrew Houston, head of information and communication technology and Fleetfrom Altro Group plc; Glenn Ewen, fleet manager for Clear Channel UK; David Oliver, procurement manager for Red Bull; and Nigel Grainger, former fleet manager at A-Plant.

Last year’s informal, educational approach marked a radical change from the seminar programme of previous years and was hugely popular, attracting large audiences for each session.

Meanwhile, test driving will again be a major focus of the event, with three circuits of the world-famous Silverstone Grand Prix venue available, plus off-road driving on the 4×4 course.

A record number of vehicle manufacturers are attending this year’s event with 24 individual brands being represented. There will also be a special emphasis on alternative powertrains, including electric and hybrid powered vehicles, which looks set to be a major attraction for fleet decision-makers.
