Ford Asks Facebook How Its EVs should sound

The study is being run by Dave Finnegan, Ford Motor Company’s electric vehicle marketing manager, and will help inform what the Focus EV could sound like when it is released in the United States later this year.

‘One of the avenues we’ve done is we’ve used our electric vehicles Facebook page to actually ask our friends what sound they prefer, what do they think an electric vehicle could sound like, and we’ve put up four possible sounds and are looking at their feedback,’ he said.

The sounds are expected to be mandated by the NHTSA from 2014, in a bid by President Obama to improve pedestrian safety. The four possible sounds are shown below.
