Fast-charging technology said to be available to deliver over 400kW in minutes is to be trialled in the UK with the help of new funding.

Zapinamo has secured £2.2m from the Government’s Low Emissions Freight Trial.

UK startup Zapinamo has secured £2.2m from the Government’s Low Emissions Freight Trial scheme, announced by Transport Minister John Hayes last week.

The funds will be used to carry out freight and delivery trials of the firm’s technology, which uses on/off grid and renewable sources for EV charging. The trials will be supported by Iveco, Farmdrop and the Warwick Manufacturing Group [WMG] part of the University of Warwick and will take place in Bermondsey, South London.

 John Hayes said: “It is fantastic that ZAPINAMO is willing to explore zero emission technologies, which will help improve air quality and reduce pollution in towns and cities. This is yet another important significant step towards this government’s commitment to reduce carbon emissions from transport to help tackle climate change. We are already making headway through our investment in low emission vehicles, greener public transport and walking and cycling, as well as grants for innovative advanced biofuels projects.”
