The Royal Borough of Greenwich is asking for residents, businesses and community groups to give feedback on its draft Transport Strategy, which seeks to improve safety, efficiency and sustainability.

The strategy includes a variety of proposals to help encourage walking and cycling, reduce traffic, improve air quality and support the roll-out of ultra-low emission vehicles

The strategy includes a variety of proposals to help encourage walking and cycling, reduce traffic, improve air quality and support the roll-out of ultra-low emission vehicles.

It scopes out Greenwich’s Electric Vehicle Strategy / Action Plan, which builds on the pledge for the borough’s own fleet to be entirely zero-emission by 2030. The action plans set out more detail on how this will be realised and the framework for implementing charging infrastructure in the borough.

The document also includes a Road Safety Action Plan, which seeks to establish a clear approach to achieving zero killed and seriously injured (KSI) casualties on the Royal Greenwich Road network by 2041, in line with TfL’s ‘Vision Zero’ approach. It also includes work to identify an outline five-year programme of interventions and schemes
to develop further.

Other commitments include work to manage kerbside space, an active travel action plan and a Streetscape Guidance and Asset Plan that will present a practical and concise overview of the Borough’s requirements for its streets.

The consultation will close at midnight on Sunday 25 September 2022 and all feedback will be used to help shape the final strategy.

Cllr Averil Lekau, deputy leader and cabinet member for climate change, environment and transport, said: “I would encourage local people to get involved and have their say, to make sure the strategy reflects the issues that are most important to you and help us identify where we can make improvements to transport around the borough.”
