Heathrow targets 100% electric fleet by 2020

The airport has 850 vehicles, and claims to have one of the largest plug-in fleets in Europe. It recently replaced a fleet of diesel pool cars with Nissan LEAFs, and the LEAF is also deployed airside, supported by an on-site rapid charger.

Switching to an entirely electric fleet is said to offer a reduction in NOx emissions of 100 tonnes per year, just including vehicles used airside, Heathrow said. The airport is also boosting its public transport offering to help reduce passenger vehicle use.
