Honda Clarity Fuel Cell pricing announced

Due to launch in selected European markets later this year, the Clarity Fuel Cell is unique in that it packages the entire drivetrain and fuel cell stack in the space usually used by the engine and transmission, enabling it to be fitted to different bodystyles.

Early volumes will be limited, Honda said, with demand set to be driven by the growth of the hydrogen refuelling network. In Europe, Honda is one of five carmakers in the HyFIVE consortium and this will be part of a 110-vehicle pan-European fleet aimed at promoting the development, use and viability of hydrogen fuel cells.

A plug-in hybrid, based on the same platform as the Clarity Fuel Cell, will be available across the United States by 2018, though it’s unclear whether this will be offered in other regions.
