The 11th generation of the Civic, the new model will become the latest Honda to use its e:HEV powertrain as standard under plans to electrify all its mainstream models in Europe by 2022.

Already seen in the CR-V and Jazz, as well as the recently revealed HR-V SUV, the e:HEV system uses two electric motors and a petrol engine, which mainly serves as a range-extender, generating power.

The first-generation Civic launched in 1972 and the model remains a core product for Honda.

The new Civic e:HEV arrives in Europe from autumn 2022.
