Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell shows grid backup potential

The project is part of the Greenvillage initiative, run by Delft University in the Netherlands, which is investigating renewable energy supplies, and is said to be a European first. Honda has shown similar technology in Japan, on the Clarity.

It’s said that a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle can power ten homes on average, and the socket is able to supply power either to a house or back to the grid. Because most cars are used as transportation for only 5% of the time, they can function as electricity generators with only heat and water as by-products.
