Hyundai has launched a raft of updates for its Ioniq 5 electric SUV that debut exterior upgrades and new trims along with bigger batteries and increased range.

First launched in February 2021, the fully electric compact crossover now gets new 63kWh ‘Standard Range’ and 84kWh ‘Long Range’ batteries that replace the previous 58kWh and 77kWh packs and deliver up to 354 miles of range.

The updated Ioniq 5 also debuts a new lead-in Advance trim, which sits below the existing Premium and Ultimate grades and the newly launched N Line and N Line S specifications.

The new entry-level model is the Ioniq 5 Advance Standard Range, which features the 63kWh battery along with a 170hp rear-mounted motor. It’s priced from £39,900 and has a WLTP combined range of up to 273 miles. The Standard Range 63kWh 170PS RWD model is also available with the Premium grade and is priced from £42,400.

Advance and Premium models are also available with the Long Range 84kWh battery pack, married up with a 228hp rear-mounted motor and delivering a WLTP combined range of 354 miles. The Advance Long Range 84kWh 228PS RWD is priced at £43,400 while the Premium Long Range 84kWh 228PS RWD is £45,900.

N Line, Ultimate and N Line S variants offer the Long Range 84kWh battery with the 228hp rear-wheel-drive powertrain, as well as an all-wheel-drive powertrain option featuring a motor on each axle and delivering 325hp of power.

For N Line and N Line S models, the Long Range 84kWh 228hp rear-wheel-drive powertrain has a combined range of up to 320 miles, with the all-wheel-drive option offering a combined range of up to 307 miles.

The Ultimate specification provides a combined range of up to 329 miles and 311 miles when paired with the rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive powertrains respectively.

A battery heating system with pre-conditioning and heat pump now comes as standard across all trims, supporting better efficiency. It delivers 800V charging as standard along with 350kW ultra-rapid charger compatibility, which means a 10-80% charge can be achieved in 18 minutes. The system also supports both domestic wall box charging and mainstream public 400V high speed charging, using the motor and the inverter to convert the voltage from 400V to 800V for optimised charge times whenever possible.

The new Advance trim comes with features such as 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and daytime running lights, body coloured door mirrors with electric adjustment, heating and power folding functionality, heated front seats and steering wheel, rear-view monitor with dynamic parking guidance,  Bluetooth Connectivity with voice recognition and a dual 12.3-inch touchscreen satellite navigation and media centre that features wireless Apple Car Play and Android Auto.

The Premium grade builds in an auto-dimming inside rear view mirror, enhanced advanced driver assistance features, auto-dimming rear-view mirror, smart electric tailgate with hands free opening function, interior Vehicle to Load (V2L), wireless phone charger, LED headlights with intelligent front lighting system and ambient interior lighting with 64 colour options.

The N Line specification takes inspiration from the Ioniq 5 N and comes with 20-inch N design alloy wheels, auto flush door handles, privacy glass rear and tailgate windows, front and rear lower bumper design inspired by the Ioniq 5 N and N Line details for the interior and exterior.

The Ultimate trim level upgrades to 20-inch alloy wheels, auto-dimming / digital rear view mirror, head up display, Bose Premium Audio speaker system, solar glass windscreen and front windows, chrome side body moulding, laminated glazing front and rear windows, leather seat trim front seats and heated outer rear seats with easy remote folding.

It can also be specified with an optional Tech Pack that adds remote smart park assist, parking collision avoidance assist – reverse, surround view monitor and blind spot view monitor. A Tech Pack Max is also available and adds digital side mirrors, relaxation seats, driver memory seat and electric sliding rear seats, while an optional Zen Pack delivers relaxation seats, driver memory seat and electric sliding rear seats and vision roof.

The top-spec N Line S gets all features from the Ultimate grade and the Tech pack.
