Ionity launches 350kW high-power charging station in Italy

Ionity is continuing the expansion of its pan-European high-power charging network with the opening of a new 350kW site in Brenner, Italy.

Ionity plans to install 400 stations in Europe by the end of 2020, with 20 being built in Italy

Said to offer the fastest chargers in the Sudtirol-Altoadige province, the Brenner outlet is the third of 20 stations to be launched in Italy as the manufacturer-backed scheme looks to open up long-distance EV driving, both locally and across Europe.

The new site joins the existing ones in Carpi and Valdicciana as part of 20 Italian stations due by the end of 2020, all featuring four 350kW chargers and backed by 100% renewable energy. The Ionity network is also planning to have 400 stations across Europe by the same date.

Dr Marcus Groll, COO of Ionity, said: “Close collaboration with site partners like l’Outlet Center Brennero has enabled Ionity to provide significant high power charging capacity on one of Europe’s most important transit routes. Ionity’s network is finally giving EVs in Italy the kind of charging speeds their owners want.”
