Kias Niro crossover has won the Guinness World Record in the US for the lowest fuel consumption in a hybrid driving from coast to coast.

The Niro EX recorded a figure of 76.6 mpg driving from Los Angeles to New York City.

The production EX model was driven by Wayne Gerdes of Carlsbad, California, and co-driver Robert Winger of Williamsburg, Virginia for the 3,715.4-mile journey from Los Angeles City Hall to New York City Hall using 48.5 gallons or 4.1 tanks of fuel.
