LA car sharing service launches with Tesla Model X fleet

Car sharing startup, Green Commuter, is launching a fleet of seven Tesla Model X electric SUVs in August, available for businesses and private consumers in the Los Angeles area.

Green Commuter Vanpool

The Tesla Model X is the only electric vehicle to fulfill the scheme’s seven-seat requirements.

The fleet will be offered for carpool commutes at peak times, and the Model X was chosen as its seven seats make it the only electric vehicle suitable for the service. The cars will also be offered for hourly and weekend rentals for individuals.

Green Commuter CEOGustavo Occhiuzzo, said: “Our goal is to provide a great vanpool and car share experience which is affordable, desirable and sustainable. We’re starting in Los Angeles, one of the most forward thinking cities in the country, but one that has great environmental challenges and congestion issues.

“Our members will experience a better commute or a great car sharing experience in one of the most exciting, advanced cars on the road — the Tesla Model X, while reducing their carbon footprint and alleviating congestion on our roads.”
