The Nissan e-NV200 has a range of 106 miles and carrying capacity of 703kg, which the firm said makes it a viable alternative to more traditional vehicle choices.

The vehicle acquisition forms part of Gavin Jones’ commitment to reduce its carbon footprint by 3% per annum, which will also be aided by its recent membership of the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS). Gavin Jones is also accredited to ISO 14001 for environmental management, and is now looking to achieve further accreditation to Energy Management ISO 50001.

Bill Davidson, safety, quality & environmental manager, said: “As a landscape management service provider, we take the responsibility of our impact on the environment very seriously and continue to look for initiatives to reduce our company wide CO2. These initiatives include solar panels and a borehole at head office along with a tracking device on our vehicles ensuring they are driven economically through reduced speed and shortest route. It will be interesting to monitor the effect the electric van has on our fuel usage, particularly as we add more to our fleet.”
