MY2024 Range Rover Velar PHEV gets extra range and lower BiK

Land Rover has updated its Range Rover Velar for the 2024 model year, enhancing design and technology while boosting the plug-in hybrid version.

The MY2024 Range Rover Velar teams up latest design with new infotainment and refinement tech, plus a longer-range PHEV version

External changes introduce a latest-design grille and LED headlights, together with a new lower rear bumper and dark accents. The new Pixel LED headlights come with Dynamic Bend Lighting technology and are complemented by super-red LED tail-lights for enhanced visibility.

The interior advances Range Rover’s reductive design philosophy, introducing a single ‘floating’ 11.4-inch curved glass touchscreen that’s integrated into the centre console to cut driver distraction and features JLR’s latest Pivi Pro infotainment system with Amazon Alexa and What3words for navigation. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported, along with wireless device charging from a new stowage area in the centre console.

The new infotainment system, along with navigation mapping and on-board diagnostics plus chassis and powertrain systems, are now capable of over-the-air upgrades; some 80% of the vehicle’s total ECUs can now be updated wirelessly.

The Range Rover Velar is also claimed to be the quietest vehicle in its class for road noise, thanks to refinement technologies including the Active Road Noise Cancellation system.

The powertrain line-up carries over the P400e plug-in electric hybrid but with substantial updates, including a larger 19.2kWh battery, up from 13.6kWh and increasing electric range from 33 miles to 40 (64km). This moves the Velar P400e into the 8% BiK bracket for 2022/23 from 12% before.

The Velar PHEV also gains 50kW rapid DC charging capability, giving a 0-80% charge in as little as 30 minutes and making it one of the fastest-charging PHEVs.

The powertrain line-up also includes latest-generation Ingenium petrol and diesel engines, available with 48-volt mild hybrid technology for enhanced efficiency and power delivery.

Trim levels span Velar S, Dynamic SE, Dynamic HSE and Autobiography, depending on powertrain.

The revised Range Rover Velar is available to order now. Prices start from £54,045 and from £64,745 for the PHEV model.
