New all-electric chauffeur company launches in London

By / 10 years ago / International News / No Comments

Named eConnect Cars, the private hire company has a fleet composed entirely of LEAFs in the range-topping Tekna trim, which includes front and rear heated leather seats. All cars leased, with plans to grow based on demand, and the cars are charged either using Source London points or a dual charge post at the eConnect Cars headquarters in Canary Wharf.

Managing director, Alistair Clarke, says he hopes the service will help businesses improve their environmental performance, so customers are provided with data which allows them to track how much equivalent CO2 is being saved compared to using a black cab or Ford Galaxy, based on figures from the Energy Saving Trust.

Pricing is said to be competitive with minicabs for short journeys, while longer trips such as journeys to Heathrow Airport will be in line with other executive chauffeur companies. As its customer portfolio grows, the company hopes to expand its London fleet and launch the service elsewhere.

‘We currently have a small fleet as we look to track supply and demand in this early stage of our development,’ Clarke said. ‘As more contracts are secured, so we will look to increase the size of the fleet and once the model has been proven in London, we will expand the company into other megacities.’
