Smart has added a new entry-level model to its #1 line-up, delivering a £4,000 saving.

The new #1 Pro shaves £4k off entry pricing

Priced from £31,950, the #1 Pro joins the Pro+ (£35,950), Premium (£38,950) and performance Brabus (£43,450) variants launched in April 2023 and provides a more affordable way into the range.

As with the Pro+, it uses a single-motor, rear-wheel drive format, featuring a 268hp motor mounted on the rear axle but with a smaller 49kWh battery. This delivers an official 193-mile capability compared to the 260 miles from the 62kWh pack in the Pro+.

Performance remains at 0-62mph in 6.7 seconds, while DC charging capability drops slightly to 130kW, enabling a 10-80% top-up in less than 30 minutes.

Equipment is carried over from the Pro+ and includes 12.8-inch HD central screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, panoramic sunroof, heated seats, 360-degree surround camera, intelligent voice assistance, LED lights and a powered tailgate. Driver assistance systems include ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control).

Smart UK CEO David Browne said: “The arrival of the #1 Pro on UK shores completes the #1 line-up, providing an exceptional value proposition for customers who require less range while expecting just as much in the way of style and substance. Accompanied by a new series of an extremely compelling PCP deals across the #1 range, we’re very excited to see how the public responds to this new offering.”

Smart – reinvented in 2019 as an all-electric carmaker under joint Mercedes-Benz and Geely ownership – is also readying for the imminent arrival of its #3 coupé-SUV.

Revealed last year at the Shanghai motor show, the #3 brings a rival to the Volkswagen ID.5 and Kia EV6. It’s priced from £32,950 and offers five variants, with electric range starting from 202 miles.
