New project to create Austria-wide charging network
A new project to create a comprehensive network of EV charging stations across Austria is to start deployment from April 2017.
The partnership project teams up 11 state energy suppliers from the Federal Association of Electromobility Austria (Bundesverband Elektromobilität Österreich – BEÖ) with the Hubject GmbH platform to provide more than 1,300 charge points from Vienna to Bregenz. This will rise to 2,000 charge points by the end of 2017.
The charging stations will also be connected with Hubject’s ‘interchange’ international charging network, enabling the customers of BEÖ members to use charging stations in Austria and the European intercharge network in the future, with charging carried out using a smartphone app or RFID card. Drivers from foreign countries will be able to use a credit card or another direct payment service.
“Electromobility does not stop at national borders. This is why we are working with all of our member companies in the intercharge network and, thus, support the digital and customer-friendly network of our charging stations in Austria in particular,” said Jürgen Halasz, chairman of BEÖ.
