Nissan is to include subscriptions to Zap-Map’s Premium service with all electric vehicle sales.

Customers buying a new Nissan electric vehicle will be provided with a Zap-Map Premium subscription that includes in-car support via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto

The deal applies to private and business orders for new Nissan electric cars and will help make charging easier for drivers.

Launched last year, Zap-Map’s subscription service builds on the app’s existing search, plan and pay services and is targeted at drivers who regularly use the public charging network.

Its Premium package provides a number of additional features, including the ability to access Zap-Map within the in-car dashboard through Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. This means drivers can find a suitable charger quickly and easily by viewing live charge point data, accessing route plans, and linking to a navigation app for turn-by-turn directions.

The Premium service also allows drivers to save unlimited filters, route plans and EV models.

Nissan said its partnerships with companies such as Zap-Map will help secure the necessary infrastructure for a zero-emission future.

Nic Thomas, marketing director, commented: “Nissan is thrilled to be partnering with Zap-Map in this exciting move towards more integrated electric motoring. Nissan have always been pioneers of the electric vehicle market and Zap-Map lead the way for charge mapping, this partnership is a logical next step as both companies continue to pave the way for intuitive electric travel.”

Melanie Shufflebotham, co-founder and COO at Zap-Map, added: “With drivers increasingly making the switch to electric, our focus at Zap-Map is on making charging simple, and that’s exactly what this partnership between Nissan and Zap-Map helps to achieve.

“We know it can sometimes be hard to find suitable chargers while driving. By enabling access to Zap-Map within the in-car dashboard, our Premium offering makes navigation that much easier for EV drivers.”
