Citroën’s first plug-in hybrid – the C5 Aircross Hybrid – has gone on sale in the UK, bringing CO2 of 32-33g/km and an electric-only range of up to 34 miles.

The C5 Aircross Hybrid is Citroën’s first plug-in hybrid

Starting first deliveries from around July, the C5 Aircross Hybrid spearheads the brand’s electrification plans, which will see all Citroën models offered with either a battery electric (BEV) or plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant, in addition to internal combustion engines (ICE), by 2025.

The C5 Aircross Hybrid teams up a PureTech 180 Stop & Start petrol engine and an 80kW electric motor, combined with a new ë-EAT8 automatic gearbox, bringing a total 225hp along with a maximum WLTP combined 168mpg.

Citroën has cherry picked the two most popular C5 Aircross trims – ‘Flair’ and ‘Flair Plus’ – for the Hybrid version, which is priced from £35,340 OTR. Standard equipment includes Connect Nav with three-year subscription to TomTom Live Traffic, active blind spot monitoring, active lane keeping assist, active safety brake, front and rear parking sensors and a 180-degree colour reversing camera. Flair Plus also adds in a half-leather interior, an electric driver’s seat, a motorised hands-free tailgate, active cruise control and 19-inch bi-tone alloy wheels.

The 13.2kWh lithium ion battery is covered by an eight-year / 100,000 mile warranty to guarantee up to 70% of its charge capacity, and can be charged in less than two hours thanks to the standard 7kW on board charger. Charging can also be carried out via a domestic plug socket in six hours, if an additional cable is purchased. Drivers can make use of the e-Remote Control service available in the MyCitroën app to manage charging, including monitoring progress, while the charging flap also features a colour code to visually track the charging process.

Drivers also get a six-month free subscription (normally worth £7.85 per month) to the Polar service.
