Peugeot reveals e-308 and e-308 SW with 248-mile range
Peugeot is expanding its electric vehicle line-up with the arrival of the e-308 and e-308 SW, delivering a range of up to 248 miles.
Due from the second half of 2023 and built on the Stellantis group EMP2 architecture, the electric hatchback and estate will join the existing 308 plug-in hybrid models, further cementing the brand’s plan to offer all its vehicles with an electrified variant by 2025.
While the hatchback will bring a rival to the Volkswagen ID.3, the 308 SW will be marked out as the first fully electric estate vehicle from a European manufacturer and will challenge the MG5 EV. The Stellantis line-up will also gain the fully electric Vauxhall Astra next year.
Both 308 bodystyles will be powered by a brand-new electric powertrain featuring a 156hp motor that offers a choice of three driving modes – Eco, Normal or Sport – and a ‘Brake’ mode with enhanced regenerative braking.
It’s connected to a new 54kWh battery with an on-board three-phase 11kW AC charger provided as standard and the ability to recharge at up to 100kW DC rapid charging. The latter will power the battery from 20-80% in less than 25 minutes.
Design features integrate the new models into the Peugeot line-up and include the latest brand badge, the brand’s integrated fang-shaped light signatures and Matrix LED headlamps on GT versions, along with the three-claw LED lights at the rear. But the new variants get unique aerodynamic 18-inch aluminium wheels to optimise efficiency.
Two trims will be offered: Allure and GT. Equipment includes the latest generation of the Peugeot i-Cockpit with compact, heated steering wheel, digital head-up display and central 10-inch touch screen. They also carry over the 308’s fully configurable virtual i-toggle buttons, and the latest i-Connect Advanced technology for the infotainment system.
Latest-generation driving aids include Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go function, long-range blind spot monitoring (75 metres) and Rear Traffic Alert.
Prices are yet to be announced but the new models will be available in the UK from the second half of 2023, either instore at dealers or via Peugeot’s Buy Online platform.
