Prices and specs revealed for facelifted Hyundai Ioniq
Hyundai’s updated Ioniq range is now available to order, bringing design changes as well as a new longer range for the pure electric version.
Starting deliveries from 5 September, the updated range – which also retains its five-star Euro NCAP rating – sees all models gain new grilles, front and rear bumpers, headlamps and tail lamps, whilst interior changes bring upgraded materials and finishes, updated instrument cluster, cabin mood lighting and touch type temperature and multimedia controls.
Technology upgrades introduce a 10.25-inch widescreen navigation system with the Bluelink telematics app-based connected car service for all Premium and Premium SE specification models. Depending on powertrain type, this provides features including remote start, the ability to activate and adjust climate control when connected to a vehicle charger, to unlock the car doors remotely by entering the Bluelink User PIN and to locate the vehicle while also warning of vehicle maintenance issues.
Ioniq Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid models with the 10.25-inch touchscreen navigation system also get the Eco Driving Assistant System, which guides drivers on more efficient driving and can even prompt the combustion engine to pre-charge the battery for forthcoming inclines or increase battery for declines.
Other changes see the previous 28kWh battery on the electric version upgraded to a 38.3kWh unit along with a 136hp motor instead of the former 120hp unit. The larger battery will recharge from flat to 100% charge in six hours five minutes on a 7kW charger, whilst 80% charge can be achieved on a 50kW within 57 minutes and will provide a range of up to 184 miles (WLTP) compared to 155 before.
The electrified 1.6-litre six-speed DCT powertrains for the Ioniq Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid are carried over but both now get driver-controlled regenerative braking. The Plug-in Hybrid’s 8.9kWh battery will recharge from flat to 100% within two hours 15 from a 7kW charge point and provides an electric-only driving range of up to 39 miles.
Prices start from £22,795 for the Hybrid SE Connect while the Hybrid 1st Edition is priced from £24,955.
The Ioniq Plug-in Hybrid starts from £29,950 for the Premium while the Premium SE is priced from £31,950.
The pure electric Ioniq is priced from £29,450 for Premium trim after the Plug In Car Grant (PiCG) is deducted and is also offered in Premium SE trim, priced from £31,450 after the PiCG.
