Pricing and Specifications revealed for new Hyundai Kona Hybrid
Hyundai Kona Hybrid prices will start from £22,495, which goes on sale from 30 September 2019.
As well as a subtly restyled exterior, the new Kona features a range of technology enhancements including Bluelink connectivity (allowing remote vehicle function, such as unlocking doors using a smartphone app), and the introduction of optional SmartSense safety packages.
The Kona Hybrid uses the same powertrain as has been employed in the Ioniq Hybrid, which combines a Kappa 1.6 GDi Atkinson Cycle petrol engine with a 1.56kWh battery and 43.5hp electric motor to deliver a maximum hybrid system power of 141hp and 265Nm torque to the front wheels, via a six-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT).
Other changes to the regular petrol/diesel-powered Kona include a multi-link rear suspension from the top-of-the-line Kona Premium GT, and the hybrid power comes with the towing capacity of up to 1,300kg. There are eight colours to choose from, including the no-cost option of Galactic Grey (pearl) and metallic paints costing an additional £565.
From £22,495, the Kona Hybrid SE includes climate control, an electric parking brake and steering wheel mounted gearshift paddles. Exterior changes include 16-inch wheels and Blue Drive badging to the wings and tailgate. Interior changes for the hybrid model include white accents around the air vents and gear lever surround, as well as accompanying white stitching to the seats. Kona Hybrid SE also features a number of key items found in the non-hybrid model including the 7-inch touchscreen audio system with standard subscription free Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, rear parking sensors with camera and as standard; Lane Keep Assist (LKA) and Driver Attention Alert (DAA). Customers will also have the option to specify the “SmartSense 1” safety pack, which includes Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) with pedestrian & cycle recognition and Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with stop and go function.
The Kona Hybrid Premium is priced from £24,295 and builds on the non-hybrid Kona’s Premium trim level. The Hybrid model adds a 10.25-inch touch screen navigation system with Bluelink connectivity and 18-inch wheels with a unique design. In addition, there’s an optional “SmartSense 2” safety pack that includes AEB, SCC with stop and go function, Intelligent Speed Limit Warning (ISLW) and Blind Spot Detection (BSD) with Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA).
Kona Hybrid Premium SE models start from £27,195 and add LED headlamps with High Beam Assist (HBA), LED rear lamps and AEB as standard. The leather seat trim comes with white stitching for hybrid models, and heated, ventilated and electrically operated front seats and head-up display. BSD with RCTA are also standard at this trim level, while the optional “SmartSense 3” safety pack adds SCC with stop and go function, LFA and Intelligent Speed Limit Warning (ISLW).
All Kona Hybrid models come with Hyundai’s five-year unlimited mileage warranty, roadside assistance package, five-year annual health check, and 12-year anti corrosion warranty.
