Renault is to offer turnkey connectivity for fleets of all sizes under a new deal with Geotab.

The collaboration will deliver comprehensive connected data without the need for any additional hardware

The collaboration will combine Renault’s vehicle telematics capabilities with the MyGeotab fleet management platform, delivering comprehensive connected data without the need for any additional hardware.

The new telematics solution is available immediately in 21 European countries including the UK, and applies to Renault models built in 2010 or later – both car and van – which can have their connectivity capabilities activated via remote and contactless access.

The data is aggregated in the MyGeotab platform, giving a single point of access for fleet operators to make informed decisions on everything from productivity, efficiency and optimisation to compliance and driver safety. The data will also generate bespoke insights for electric vehicles, bringing a real understanding into their operation.

Highlighting how future mobility will be data-driven, Christoph Ludewig, vice president OEM Europe at Geotab, added: “The electrification of fleets will reinforce this trend and pre-installed telematics will become state of the art. We are pleased to have found a partner in Renault who has also recognised this trend and with whom we can continue to drive innovation and sustainability in transport.

“The ability to handle mixed fleets is essential as we transition to an electric vehicle future. We will see the co-existence of internal combustion engines (ICE) and EV technology for many years to come, so we need a telematic solution that is suited to handling both seamlessly, across one platform,” he continued.

The solution is future-proofed as Renault’s connectivity capabilities will help ensure that customers will continue to receive all relevant data points going forwards. It can also be expanded to meet future needs; users can access a wide range of third-party software that offers special extensions via the Geotab marketplace.

It’s the latest deal for Geotab’s vendor-neutral telematics solution; LEVC has also teamed up to offer integrated Geotab tech on all new plug-in hybrid TX taxis and VN5 vans.
