Renault Clio E-Tech full hybrid: Prices and specs revealed

Renault’s facelifted Clio is now available to order, solely available as a full hybrid and priced from £21,295.

The E-Tech full hybrid is now the sole powertrain available

Revamped in a mid-life refresh, the supermini ditches the former TCe 90 1.0-litre petrol engine dropped, leaving just the E-Tech full hybrid powertrain. This uses a 1.6-litre petrol engine with an electric motor, delivering 145hp and with CO2 emissions from 96g/km and fuel economy up to 67.3mpg.

It’s able to use the electric motor up to 80% of the time in cities – cutting fuel consumption by up to 40% compared to a conventional petrol engine, according to Renault.

The facelift also introduces new styling, showcasing Renault’s new design language and including a completely redesigned front-end with a larger, chequered grille and new signature lighting, planned to reach all Renault vehicles in future. The rear has also had a makeover with a new bumper and updated lights.

The cabin meanwhile gains more sustainable and higher quality materials – the leather option has been scrapped and all surfaces are now covered in TEP, a grained coated fabric made of bio-sourced and recycled polyethylene fibres.

Trim structure has been overhauled and brings a choice of three grades – Evolution, Techno and Esprit Alpine – already seen on the Austral and heralding a new top-of-the range version that fuses the Alpine brand’s sporting hallmarks with Renault’s new styling.

Each version has its own unique trim, with the Techno and Esprit Alpine both featuring a new synthetic leather. On the Techno trim, the seats, door panels and dashboard are clad in a specially developed sustainable fabric that comprises up to 60% Tencel Modal branded fibres, marked out for their sustainability.

Features shared across the range include diamond-cut alloy wheels, electrically folding and heated door mirrors, hands-free key card, automatic air conditioning, full LED headlights and rear lights, Easy Link touchscreen with built-in navigation and wireless smartphone integration with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, one-touch electric front windows and an Eco mode function.

The entry-level Evolution trim builds on this with additional standard equipment that includes a 7-inch digital driver display, 7-inch Easy Link touchscreen, 16-inch alloy wheels, and rear parking sensors.

The mid-range Techno trim is priced from £22,695 and adds in a reversing camera, 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, front and rear parking sensors, shark fin antenna, wireless phone charger, and Multi-Sense with ambient lighting.

The top-rung Esprit Alpine is priced at £24,095 and gains embossed 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, Matte Shadow Grey front blade, sporty-style seats with blue overstitching and Alpine detailing, heated front seats and steering wheel, 10-inch digital driver display, 9.3-inch Easy Link touchscreen, adaptive cruise control, blind spot warning and rear cross traffic alert.

First launched in 1991, the Clio is the best-selling car in France and has sold more than 1.1 million units in the UK.
