Riverford readies for 100% electric fleet with new Vivaro-e vans
Devon-based organic fruit and vegetable box supplier Riverford has deployed 10 electric Vauxhall Vivaro-e vans in line with plans for its fleet to go fully electric by 2025.
The vans are being used to make deliveries in and around its first fully electric hub in Bristol and are expected to help save more than 68 tonnes of CO2 per year.
The Vivaro-e was chosen for its electric range of up to 205 miles, alongside its maximum payload of 1,226kg and load volume of 6.6m3.
Jason Holt, Riverford’s head of logistics, : “We know customers there will be thrilled that their veg boxes will now be delivered emission-free, and we’re looking forward to expanding our electric van fleet across the country.
“Electric vehicles are an absolute no-brainer for all delivery businesses, especially Riverford where we pride ourselves on being environmentally conscious.”
The Vauxhall Vivaro-e is available with 50kWh or 75kWh battery configurations and supports up to 100kW rapid charging; an 80% charge takes 30 minutes for 50kWh models and 45 minutes for 75kWh variants.
For added peace of mind, the Vivaro-e comes with an eight-year/100,000 mile warranty on both battery units.
