Rolls-Royce debut EV takes form of 585hp Spectre coupé

Rolls-Royce has debuted its Spectre coupé: the marque’s first fully electric motor car and a major landmark in its commitment to go EV-only by 2030.

The Spectre is expected to have an all-electric WLTP range of 320 miles and offer 900Nm of torque from its 585hp powertrain

Due to start sales in the fourth quarter of 2023, the Spectre is heralded as the spiritual successor to the Phantom Coupé. It’s built on the brand’s all-aluminium ‘Architecture of Luxury’, sitting some 2m wide and 5m long.

Specs are yet to be finalised but preliminary data shows the Spectre is expected to have an all-electric WLTP range of 320 miles/520km and offer 900Nm of torque from its 585hp powertrain. It’s also anticipated to hit 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds.

The Spectre fulfils a prophecy made by co-founder Charles Rolls in 1900 of an electrified future for automobiles, along with a recent promise by CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös to bring an electric car to market this decade.

Commenting on the Spectre, Müller-Ötvös said: “It is perfectly in tune with the sensibilities of our time. It states the direction for the future of our marque and perfectly answers a call from the most discerning individuals in the world to elevate the electric motor car experience, because Spectre is a Rolls-Royce first and an electric car second.

“This is the start of a bold new chapter for our marque, our extraordinary clients and the luxury industry. For this reason, I believe Spectre is the most perfect product that Rolls-Royce has ever produced.”

Prices from £250k upwards are expected.
