Schneider named as BMW's global charging point partner
The partnership extends to all global markets for the vehicle, where Schneider will offer a package comprising electrical surveys, supply and installation of the BMW i Wallbox, as well as providing ongoing maintenance and support. This is provided by Schneider, but managed by BMW.
In the UK, Schneider will work with BMW’s first 46 i Sales Agents, and the Wallbox is eligible for the 75% domestic charging point grant, making it available for home installations at £315 including VAT, subject to qualification.
The i3 is designed specifically to work with the Wallbox, which is manufactured by Schneider and can fully charge the 186bhp electric four-seater within four hours, and the partnership is said to be the first where the charging point is manufactured and installed by the same company.
BMW is Schneider’s second manufacturer partnership, alongside a deal with Ford to provide EVLink charging points for the Focus Electric and plug-in hybrid C-Max and Mondeo models in Europe.
