Select Car Leasing partners with Egg to make switch to EVs hassle-free

Renewable energy brand Egg has signed up Select Car Leasing as an official partner for its new EV charge point subscription service.

Egg’s new EV charging subscription service offers drivers the means to charge their cars at home for a £30 per month monthly fee

Launched this spring as an offshoot of parent firm Liberty Global, Egg offers a range of clean technology solutions, including its EV charging subscription service. This offers drivers the means to charge their cars at home for a £30 per month monthly fee, which includes standard installation of home charge point installation and maintenance cover.

Under the new partnership, Select Car Leasing customers that sign up to Egg’s service will receive their first month free.

The offer is available to individual customers as well as those leasing electric cars or vans through Select’s Fleet Solutions corporate division.

“We’re delighted to be partnering with Select Car Leasing which shares our commitment to making the switch to EVs hassle-free and affordable for drivers and fleet managers,” said Steve Springett, B2C director at Egg.

Shane Pither, head of automotive innovation for Select Car Leasing, said it made perfect sense that a driver paying monthly for their car would opt to pay for a home EV charger on a similar basis.

“Egg has the first subscription-based model on the market and by extending this service to our customers, we’re helping them realise the convenience and affordability of running an EV, particularly when charging happens at home,” he continued.

Select Car Leasing runs a total fleet of more than 55,000 cars nationwide, including a rapidly growing proportion of electric cars and vans. It’s seen enquiries for EVs rise dramatically in the past year as more motorists turn to electric in the wake of rising fuel costs, fuel shortages and long delivery timeframes for ICE vehicles.
