Sixt car rental has upgraded its subscription service with the addition of the Tesla Model Y to the fleet.

The Tesla Model Y Long Range joins the Sixt subscription fleet

The electric SUV, which rivals the BMW iX3 and Audi Q4 e-tron, further expands the selection of premium cars on offer and gives drivers access to the Model Y’s high-tech features and smooth driving experience. The Long Range model available on the scheme provides a dual-motor all-wheel drive set-up and a 315-mile WLTP-rated range.

Priced from £1,699 per month on subscription, the Teslas also charge in as little as 15 minutes to give a range of 150 miles at one of the 35,000+ superchargers available globally.

The Sixt+ subscription allows customers to rent any one of a selection of brand-new cars without any need to buy or lease the vehicle. Customers pay a fixed monthly fee based on their choice of vehicle and fuel costs with no additional charges and the subscription can be cancelled at any time with no contractual obligations.

Customers who subscribe to a Tesla will receive routine maintenance and service checks, third-party insurance, loss damage waiver and 500 free miles. The entire subscription including vehicle choice and subscription level can be controlled through the Sixt app, without any paperwork, so subscribers can control their subscription easily and on-the-go.

The addition of the Model Y to the fleet forms part of Sixt’s new sustainability programme to further accelerate CO2 reduction and demand for smart e-mobility. Its sustainability initiatives include a commitment to fleet electrification – the company expects around 12-15% of its fleet to be electric vehicles by 2023 and by 2030, it’s aiming for the fleet to be 70-90% electric vehicles within Europe.

The electrification of the fleet forms just one component of the programme, which also includes pledges on branch and site carbon neutrality, investment in charging infrastructure and plans to integrate the Sixt charge concept into its One app. The latter will allow customers to access information about charging points available at branches. Other sustainable options available on the app include ride sharing, ride hailing, car rental and car subscriptions.

Tim Vetters, managing director of Sixt UK commented: “We are pleased to offer the trailblazing e-vehicle, Tesla, to our Sixt+ customers. The introduction of the brand is part of a wider plan to make more of our fleet electric, faster, and make our business more eco-friendly overall with our sustainability initiatives.”
