Škoda is gearing up for the 2026 arrival of its Epiq entry-level crossover with the unveiling of the concept version.

Debuted at the Munich motor show, the near-production show car gives the closest insights yet to the new model, due late 2026 and positioned as a city SUV crossover.

The Epiq will go up against the Renault 4 and will be based on the same MEB Entry architecture as the new Volkswagen ID. Polo and Cupra Raval, also showcased at IAA Munich and part of the Volkswagen Group’s Electric Urban Car Family (EUCF) for core brands.

Pitched as the most affordable electric vehicle in Škoda’s expanding portfolio, it’s due to be priced like its ICE counterpart, the Kamiq, which starts at just under £25,000, meeting the growing demand for sustainable and accessible mobility solutions.

A key model for Škoda, the Epiq “features a bold, minimalist design and innovative elements that highlight practical solutions, making the Epiq an ideal companion for everyday use”. It will also deliver a “seamless digital experience with advanced technologies and assistance systems”.

Measuring 4.1m in length and able to seat five comfortably, according to the brand, the “practical everyday companion” will feature a 475-litre boot.

There’s no powertrain details yet but it will come with a range of up to 264 miles (425km).

It’s the first model to fully adopt Škoda’s Modern Solid design language, applied inside and out. The exterior pairs Cashmere matt paintwork with a gloss black Tech-Deck Face, framed by T-shaped LED daytime running lights and turn indicators.

The interior, as you would expect from the Czech carmaker, focuses on usability and everyday practicality, with “generous” storage options and clever luggage solutions, including bag hooks, fasteners and hidden underfloor compartments. Reflecting Škoda’s ‘Mobile First’ approach, the interior is minimalist and functional, featuring wireless phone charging, Simply Clever compartments, as well as physical buttons and haptic scroll wheels.

The Epiq will be built at the Volkswagen Navarra plant in Spain as part of a joint development and production project within Volkswagen’s Brand Group Core (BGC), which will introduce “four attractive, affordable electric cars across three brands”.

The production version of the Škoda Epiq will make its world premiere mid-2026.
