Subaru has announced the launch of three new pure electric models in the UK and Europe, including its first all-electric compact SUV.
Dubbed Uncharted, the new SUV delivers a rival to the Kia EV3 and Škoda Elroq and will be available in front- and all-wheel-drive versions, as with the Toyota C-HR+ that it’s based on under the Japanese carmakers’ alliance.
The 344hp AWD version gets a dual-motor set-up that’s able to propel the Uncharted to 62mph in five seconds and tow up to 1,500kg. It features a 77kWh battery for up to 292 miles of range.
The single-motor, front-wheel-drive versions will include a Long-Range variant equipped with a 224hp motor and the same 77kWh battery for up to 363 miles of range. The entry-level version will deliver 167hp and come with a smaller 57.7kWh battery for 276 miles of range. All versions of the Uncharted are equipped with a 22kW onboard charger as standard.
The Uncharted will launch in the UK in early 2026, with full UK specifications, drivetrain options and pricing to be announced closer to the launch.
Subaru also revealed more details of its upcoming Trailseeker EV, now renamed as the E-Outback for Europe. The new model will draw on the 30-year legacy of Subaru’s Outback to team up its “versatility, capability and go-anywhere confidence with thrilling electric power and refined technology”.
Closely related to the Toyota bZ4X Touring, it’s kitted out with a 74.7kWh battery for a WLTP range of over 279 miles while the dual motor set-up delivers 380hp and enables it to accelerate from 0 to 62mph in 4.4 seconds. It’s also equipped with the brand’s Symmetrical AWD system, and is complemented by 210 mm of ground clearance, a dual X-Mode terrain selection system and 1,500kg towing capacity.
Safety systems include emergency driving stop, secondary collision braking, and eyesight driving assist system-inspired features.
Finally, the Solterra has been refreshed with significant hardware and software upgrades, as well as sleek new styling, three years after its arrival as Subaru’s first electric SUV.
The dual-motor arrangement now delivers 344hp, enabling the Solterra to accelerate from 0 to 62mph in 5.1 seconds. Battery capacity has increased to 73.1kWh and is capable of exceeding 310 miles on a full charge. Further battery improvements have also resulted in faster charging speeds, with the new Solterra now able to charge from 10 to 80% in 30 minutes at -10°C, with pre-conditioning and an optional 22kW AC charger. Towing capacity has also doubled to 1,500kg.
Additionally, the Solterra gets a design refresh, with aero-optimised front styling, a redesigned interior and a 14-inch infotainment display. Safety has also been enhanced with added camera support for all-surface awareness.
The Subaru Uncharted and Solterra models are due to launch in the UK market in early 2026, with the Subaru E-Outback arriving in summer 2026.
