2020 will be the year Citroën goes big on electrification, according to Citroën’s global marketing and communications senior vice president, Arnaud Belloni, in an interview last week.

As predicted, the first will be the PHEV version of Citroën’s most recent launch, the C5 Aircross. Plus, an all-new, all electric model, probably a version of the predicted C5 and C6 replacement, and as Belloni described it, ‘a surprise.’

“Next year, we will have the C5 Aircross PHEV, plus a new, full-electric car, which will also be available in diesel or petrol versions. Plus, we will have a surprise. So, there will be three new electric Citroëns.”

To go with these new models, Belloni told me that Citroën is working on its on-line car sharing model, Free 2 Move, which could challenge the usual ownership model.
