UFODrive all-electric car rental service launches in Spain

All-electric, all-digital car rental company UFODrive has debuted in Spain with the launch of its Madrid branch this month.

The new ‘UFOBay’ facility is located in Madrid’s popular Plaza de Colón region

The new ‘UFOBay’ facility is located in Madrid’s popular Plaza de Colón region and enables drivers to access a 24/7 EV car rental service via their smartphones, giving access to vehicles include the Tesla Model S, Jaguar I-Pace, Audi e-tron and others. Other major Spanish cities will follow later this year.

UFODrive says it’s pioneering the electric car revolution with a complete overhaul of the car rental process from the ground up, delivering an all-inclusive, keyless and contactless service.

“The future mobility experience is all-digital and EV-centric, and we are proud to launch UFODrive Madrid,” said Trevor Toner, managing director of rental. “The opening of our very first Spanish UFOBay delivers on our vision to create a sustainable, eco-conscious business and an incredible customer experience – simple, fast, easy, and modern – combining the smartphone revolution with the growing electric car revolution. With UFODrive there are no hidden or unexpected charges, just transparent pricing, and a fleet of premium electric cars that all come with a customer-focused experience and value for money.”

He added: “Spain is a key market for us and there is a clear need for a modern EV rental service in Madrid.”

All charging is included within the rental and the company offers a deliver and collect service direct to customers’ home or work.

UFODrive has reported record growth so far this year, with the acompany’s recent European and US expansion following the announcement earlier this year of a $19m Series A financing round, co-led by Hertz and Centares.

The business currently operates in San Francisco in the US and in over 20 locations across Europe – including London, Paris, Berlin, Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Dublin.
