Ukraine Police to deploy 651 Outlander PHEVs

Ukraine’s police force has ordered a fleet of 651 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEVs, which will be used for patrol duty around the country.

Announced by Arsen Avakov, the Minister of Internal Affairs, the deployment has resulted from a joint project between the Ministry of the Interior and Ministry of the Environment.

Avakov said the vehicles have been deployed to replace the existing fleet of cars made by Russian manufacturers AutoVAZ and UAZ, as part of aims to cut the environmental impact of the force’s operations.

The Outlander PHEV – which is already Europe’s fastest-selling plug-in vehicle – offers an electric range of 32 miles under NEDC testing, with CO2 emissions of 42g/km. It has fully electric four-wheel drive, and the ability to rapid charge to 80% capacity in around half an hour.
