Vauxhall and Octopus Energy team up for ‘one-stop shop’ for EV drivers

Vauxhall and Octopus Energy have joined forces to create a one-stop shop bundle that will bring significant cost savings for drivers going electric.

Package deals includes home charger installation, a 100% renewable electricity tariff and access to a public charging roaming service

The duo’s ‘Plug and Go’ bundle provides new and existing Vauxhall EV drivers with installation of a home charger and access to the Octopus ‘Electric Universe’ public charging roaming service. Drivers can also choose a 100% renewable electricity tariff from Octopus.

The bundle includes a smart charger installation which enables drivers to move to the Intelligent Octopus flexible EV charging tariff and get an initial £25 off their bill. The tariff creates bespoke daily smart charge plans for each connected car, charging them when power is at its cheapest and greenest, helping to balance the energy grid while cutting charging costs. It’s said to be able to save customers up to £660 per year on charging compared to a standard variable rate and drivers can also include the cost of their home charger in the package.

On top of this, the partners will ensure every new Vauxhall EV sold in the UK comes with an Electric Universe card and £10 introductory credit. The roaming service gives drivers access to more than 310,000 public chargers across the world from over 460 participating partner networks – with all charges appearing on a single monthly bill.

The tie-up supports Vauxhall’s commitment to go all-electric from 2028; its line-up already includes the fully electric Corsa-e and Mokka-e, as well as a full range of electric vans, and with an all-electric Astra to come in 2023.

James Taylor, acting managing director, Vauxhall, said: “Vauxhall is committed to electrifying Britain and by partnering with a highly-respected brand like Octopus Energy, we’re giving our electric vehicle drivers the ability to ensure that they charge at home in the greenest and most affordable way possible as well as simplifying public charging by providing access to many networks across the UK with just one card.”
