Vauxhall has confirmed that its new-generation Crossland crossover will include a fully electric variant when it launches next year.

The current Crossland is solely available with a 1.2-litre petrol

Arriving alongside the all-electric successor to the Grandland large SUV already announced for next year, it means that the carmaker will have a battery-electric variant of all its models as early as next year. The announcements coincide with Clean Air Day 2023 and support its Vauxhall’s plans to be an electric-only brand from 2028.

James Taylor, managing director, said: “2024 will see us achieve the significant milestone of offering a fully electric variant across our entire model line-up. It also confirms that going forward, all future Vauxhall models will be offered with a fully electric variant from launch – demonstrating our commitment towards driving Britain to a brighter, electric future.”

Vauxhall’s line-up already spans five fully electric passenger cars, including Corsa Electric, Mokka Electric, Combo Life Electric and Vivaro Life Electric – plus the new Astra Electric that’s gone on sale today. These will be joined by the Astra Sports Tourer Electric later this year.

It’s also one of just a few brands to offer a fully electric van across its entire LCV range; comprising Combo Electric, Vivaro Electric and Movano Electric.

The growing electrified range also includes plug-in hybrid versions of the Astra, Astra Sports Tourer and Grandland, including performance GSe models, such as the Astra Sports Tourer GSe that’s again opened for orders today. The Grandland GSe is the most powerful model in Vauxhall’s line-up, outputting 300hp of power and maximum torque of 520Nm.

The Corsa also gets a new hybrid powertrain later this year, available in 100hp and 136hp guises and featuring a new dual-clutch automatic transmission, giving customers a choice of battery-electric, hybrid or conventional petrol/diesel engines.
