Vauxhall Mokka Electric gets extra range and power for 2023

Vauxhall is introducing a new powertrain for its Mokka Electric crossover, upping both range and power.

The updated model joins the line-up for 2023 and gains a new 54kWh battery to replace the current 50kWh unit.

Switching to the new, more efficient battery ups electric driving range by over 20% to 252 miles from the previous 209 miles (WLTP) – bringing the fight to electric crossover rivals. Despite its higher capacity, the updated battery doesn’t impact passenger or boot space.

The 2023 Mokka Electric – now known in full, rather than Mokka-e – is able to charge at up to 100kW DC as before, enabling a 0-80% boost in just 30 minutes. It also features an 11kW on-board charger as standard for home charging via a wallbox.

Powertrain updates also introduce a new, more powerful 156hp electric motor – up 20hp from before and delivering the 0 to 62mph sprint in under 10 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 93mph.

The revisions are also expected to roll out on other Stellantis models based on the same platform as the Mokka Electric, which include the Citroën e-c4 and Peugeot e-2008.

Orders for the Mokka Electric with the new 54kWh battery will open from March 2023 and first deliveries start in the spring. Prices have not yet been announced but are expected to rise in line with the changes.

The arrival of the revised Mokka Electric supports Vauxhall’s plans to go electric-only from 2028. Its EV line-up will be boosted significantly further next year with the arrival of the Astra Electric and Astra Sports Tourer Electric.
