Volvo enhances EV public charging experience across Europe

Volvo is boosting its public charging offer for customers across Europe to make access, payment and charging a far simpler experience than before.

Volvo will launch a host of new charging features, all accessible through its app, by the end of November

It’s partnered with electromobility provider Digital Charging Solutions to launch a host of new features, all accessible through the Volvo Cars app, by the end of November.

The network, which is open owners of existing fully electric Volvo models such as the XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge, as well as customers of the forthcoming EX90 and EX30, is being expanded to cover more than 1,000 different charge point operators. This will encompass more than 590,000 public chargers across 30 countries throughout Europe, providing a greater spread of publicly accessible chargers and opening up cross-border travel.

The forthcoming EX90, the brand’s flagship fully electric SUV, will also offer Plug & Charge functionality with compatible chargers, providing a hassle-free charging experience.

Drivers will also get remote charging control via the app, ensuring they can start and stop their charging sessions via a tap of their phone.

Other updates include new functionality to set up a business driver account for VAT and company invoicing purposes, simplifying the process for business users.

Customers can also benefit from subscription offers on public charging, allowing them to access preferential pricing on high-power charging stations, dependent on the market.

Being able to access more public chargers than before, all through a single aapp, enables our customers to make more electrified journeys thanks to these new accessible enhancements.”
