So Energy, one of the UK’s leading renewable energy providers, has launched a dedicated tariff designed specifically for electric vehicle drivers who charge their cars at home.

Dubbed So EV, the tariff includes an off-peak electricity rate of 6.5p per kWh between 12am and 5am, making it one of the most competitive EV charging tariffs currently on the market.

So Energy’s May 2025 market tracker research found that 8% of homeowners and renters currently have an EV and a further 33% expect to own one within the next two years. The same research also revealed that 79% of consumers are interested in energy tariffs tailored to their individual needs.

The new So EV tariff is set up to offer an affordable, sustainable and smart solution for overnight charging.

The low overnight rate of 6.5p/kWh (12am-5am) is perfect for scheduled home charging and also reduces strain on the national grid by shifting demand to off-peak hours.

Customers also benefit from 100% renewable electricity, helping EV drivers further reduce their carbon footprint, and a fixed 12-month tariff for price stability and peace of mind.

To be eligible for So EV, customers must have an electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle, a home EV charger and a smart meter providing half-hourly usage data. The tariff is available to both new and existing So Energy customers.
