Vauxhall has become the latest carmaker to launch its own EV discount scheme while awaiting approval for the Government’s Electric car Grant.

As with the scheme from Stellantis siblings Fiat and Abarth, the carmaker has pre-emptively applied its own £1,500 Electric Car Grant to its entire electric car range.

The discount is for retail customers only and applies to orders from 6 August 2025 to 31 August 2025.

It applies across the carmaker’s range, which includes the Grandland Electric, Corsa Electric, Mokka Electric, Frontera Electric and Astra/Astra Sports Tourer Electric. Special Editions, including the Yes Edition and Griffin versions, are not included.

Vauxhall has combined its own £1,500 grant with enhanced finance offers and its existing ‘Electric All In’ package – which adds another £500 towards a home EV charger or public charging.

The news follows the Government’s announcement last month of its Electric Car Grant, which offers buyers incentives on new EVs priced at £37,000 or less, including up to £3,750 for the greenest vehicles in band 1, and £1,500 for band 2 vehicles that meet sustainability thresholds.

The first models to qualify for the Government’s grant were announced earlier this week. The six EVs – all from Vauxhall’s sister brand Citroën – only qualify for a £1,500 grant as opposed to the full £3,750.

More models are expected to be confirmed in the coming weeks as carmakers apply.

Vauxhall’s scheme launches amid concerns that many prospective buyers are holding off on purchases awaiting confirmation of which models qualify for the Government’s grant. Latest new car registration figures show that fleet and consumer new car demand fell in July as buyers delayed purchases to wait for the rollout of the new Electric Car Grant.
