Plans have been submitted for a new roadside facility in Brough that would introduce 10 ultra-rapid 300kW EV charging bays alongside traditional refuelling and driver facilities.

The proposed development, brought forward by Brookfield Property (Holdings) Ltd, could create around 31 permanent jobs and expand access to high-power EV charging infrastructure in East Riding.

The application, which is currently under consideration by East Riding of Yorkshire, relates to land off Stanley Jackson Way.

If approved, the scheme would deliver a modern roadside services facility including a fuel filling station with shop, a dedicated electric vehicle charging hub, a drive-thru coffee shop and car wash and jet wash facilities.

The EV hub would feature 10 ultra-rapid 300kW charging bays, tackling a lack of similar power chargers located within East Riding.

The scheme would also provide new facilities for residents of Brough. There is currently only one petrol filling station in Brough, located at Morrisons, meaning the proposed facility would expand local choice for residents and reduce their need to travel on the A63 to access alternative fuelling and recharging facilities.

Planning and development consultancy Lichfields is advising on the planning application.

Casey Smith, senior planner at Lichfields, said: “The proposals would deliver a modern roadside services facility in a highly accessible location.

“Alongside traditional refuelling and driver facilities, the scheme would introduce ultra-rapid EV charging infrastructure that is currently very limited locally.

“The development would also support the local economy through new employment opportunities and additional services for residents and motorists travelling through the area.”

“As well as improving access to ultra-rapid EV charging infrastructure and traditional refuelling, the scheme would introduce new services and create employment opportunities in the area.
