EV charging provider Ezo has won a 15-year contract valued at £176m to deliver and manage EV charging infrastructure for four councils in the Midlands.

The rollout will see 250 new chargers installed for two million residents across Worcestershire, Leicestershire, Rutland and Warwickshire County councils. The contract will be funded by the Government and delivered by Ezo, with no direct capital investment required from the councils.

The project marks Ezo’s second major UK contract in the last 12 months, bringing the company’s total UK contract value to £476m. It follows the £300m, 20-year contract signed in October 2025 to roll out charging infrastructure across the north of Scotland, with Ezo now operating over 400 chargers in the region and developing a further 1,000 chargers.

The new Midlands contract has been awarded by the Fourth Midlands EV Infrastructure Consortium (FMeviC) which is a joint partnership between local authorities, Worcestershire County Council, Warwickshire County Council, Leicestershire County Council and Rutland County Council.

The consortium worked alongside Sub-National Transport Body Midlands Connect for the new regional initiative, which aims to accelerate the rollout of electric vehicle chargers across the Midlands. The project will focus on deploying rapid and ultra-rapid chargers across the counties, with a particular emphasis on areas reliant on on-street parking.

By prioritising local charging infrastructure, the initiative seeks to drive a step-change in EV accessibility, improve air quality and support the decarbonisation of transport.

Ezo noted that accessible EV charging is now critical. The Middle East crisis has driven up fuel prices, while affordable vehicle options have expanded. Consequently, the UK experienced record-breaking sales of both new and used electric vehicles over the past two months.

Ezo is backed by Rubicon Capital Advisors, which also advised on an investment from Aviva Investors in 2023. The company operates more than 5,900 chargers across 2,100 locations, serving over 140,000 registered EV drivers in the UK and Ireland.
