Changan UK has signed up Ohme as its preferred new home EV charging partner, streamlining the transition to electric driving for customers.

The fast-growing Chinese brand will recommend Ohme chargers to customers who need a home charging solution. Ohme chargers will be available to view in Changan dealers, with Ohme providing a full installation solution as well as dealer training and support with the companies looking to work together and collaborate on evolving technologies such as V2G.

The partnership follows the successful introduction of the Changan Deepal S05 and S07 to the UK and ahead of the arrival of new models such as the new S05 Ultra PHEV and the E06 SUV.

Nic Thomas, managing director of Changan UK, said: “Buying an electric car and working out how to charge it at home shouldn’t be two separate conversations. Most people just want a straight answer on what to get, what it costs and who’s going to fit it. This partnership means our customers can choose the car and home charger in the same place, with people who know what they’re talking about.”

Ohme’s dynamic EV chargers use live data from the grid and are compatible with the UK’s best and most affordable energy tariffs. As an example, fully charging a Changan Deepal S05 with a 68.8kWh battery using an Ohme charger on a dynamic EV tariff could cost just £5.50, based on its 3030mile WLTP range). Ohme also offers drivers the option to charge their car when renewable energy generation on the national grid is at its highest, further lowering their CO2 impact.
