The first UK-bound Chery Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid (CSH) has been delivered to its new owner, marking the beginning of nationwide deliveries.
The Chinese car giant unveiled its new flagship SUV in the autumn, and the start of its UK customer handovers marks a landmark.
As the parent company of Omoda and Jaecoo, Chery is already seeing great success in the UK. The arrival of the Tiggo 9 accelerates its plans further.
Priced from £43,105, the seven-seat plug-in hybrid joins the smaller Tiggo 8 seven-seat SUV launched in September and the Tiggo 7 compact crossover – which arrived last summer as the sister to the Jaecoo 7 – which are both offered in petrol and PHEV form. The Tiggo 4 crossover is also planned to arrive this spring in 1.6-litre pure petrol form only.
Built on the brand’s T2X platform, the Tiggo 9 CHS features a 2+3+2 seven-seat layout, with an electrically sliding and reclining second row, and a third row that folds flat to increase boot space from 819 to 2,021 litres, topped off by a 1.3m panoramic sunroof.
The plug-in powertrain pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with twin electric motors and a three-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission. The hybrid system delivers up to 91 miles of electric-only driving (WLTP) and over 650 miles of combined range – alongside 428hp and a 0-62mph time of 5.4 seconds.
The Tiggo 9 CSH also gets rapid charging capabilities – replenishing 30-80% in around 18 minutes – and 6.6kW of vehicle-to-load (V2L) support.
Handling, developed with input from Chery International’s European R&D centre, has been optimised for UK and European roads.
It’s available solely in the brand’s top-tier Summit grade, which brings a “luxury-led” approach, including heated and ventilated seating, a premium Sony audio system and a 15.6-inch HD touchscreen.
As with all models, the Tiggo 9 CSH comes with a seven-year/100,000-mile warranty, available through Chery’s 50+ UK-wide dealer network.
