Chinese car giant Chery is continuing its UK offensive with confirmation of the arrival of its flagship Tiggo 9 seven-seat SUV just four months after the brand announced its arrival on these shores.

Due on sale from December priced at £43,105, the flagship model will join the smaller Tiggo 8 seven-seat SUV launched in September and the Tiggo 7 compact crossover – which arrived this summer as the sister to the Jaecoo 7 – which are both offered in petrol and PHEV form. The Tiggo 4 crossover is also planned to arrive next spring in 1.6-litre pure petrol form only.

As the parent company of Omoda and Jaecoo, Chery is already seeing great success in the UK and the arrival of the Tiggo 9 broadens its plans further.

Built on the brand’s T2X platform, it features a 2+3+2 seven-seat layout, with an electrically sliding and reclining second row, and a third row that folds flat to increase boot space from 819 to 2,021 litres, topped off by a 1.3m panoramic sunroof.

It will be available in just one ‘flavour’ – a Super Hybrid (CSH) powertrain paired up exclusively with Summit specification that’s the range-topping grade for the brand’s other vehicles.

The powertrain teams up a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with twin electric motors and a three-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission. Together, they deliver a whopping 428hp and 580Nm of torque – taking the seven-seater from 0-62mph in 5.4 seconds.

Despite this performance, it’s capable of over 650 miles of total range and 91 miles of electric-only driving (WLTP).

The 34.46kWh battery is capable of charging itself through braking and the petrol engine, and also supports DC rapid charging up to 71kW, replenishing 30-80% in around 18 minutes. It also features 6.6kW vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability to power anything from laptops to campsite lighting.

The Tiggo 9 also comes with six driving modes (Eco, Normal, Sport, Snow, Sand and Off-Road) and all-wheel drive as standard.

The exclusive Summit specification creates “an atmosphere of calm sophistication”. The front seats feature massage, heating and cooling, the second row is heated and ventilated, and the third row gets air conditioning. The Tiggo 9 also comes with Chery’s C-Pure ‘green cabin technology’ with CN95 ionised air filtration, air purification and self-cleaning ventilation.

Onboard tech includes the “Hello Chery” virtual assistant, 15.6-inch 2.5K touchscreen, a 14-speaker Sony audio system with driver headrest speakers, and the Chery smartphone app, which enables remote start, cabin pre-conditioning and charging management.

On the practicality side, the Tiggo 9 is equipped with a Smart Power tailgate with key-sensing auto-opening function, a 540-degree camera system, automatic parking and fully reclining front passenger seat. As with the Tiggo 7 and Jaecoo E5, the Tiggo 9 gets Pet Mode functionality that cools the cabin and alerts of pets inside.

Design features include a bold front grille, a full-width rear light bar and 20-inch bright machined alloy wheels.

There are 19 advanced driver assistance systems fitted as standard, including adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and emergency lane keep, alongside blind spot detection, rear cross traffic alert and braking, traffic jam assist, integrated cruise assistance, intelligent headlight control and automatic parking assistance.

Chery says the Tiggo 9 has been fine-tuned for UK and European roads, with input from Chery International’s European R&D centre. The brand tells us ride, steering and chassis balance have been optimised to deliver smooth, stable and confident performance across all conditions. It also gets a seven-year/100,000-mile warranty.

Customer deliveries will begin in December 2025 and the Tiggo 9 CSH will be available through more than 25 Chery dealers across the UK.
