Geely Auto UK is bringing the fight to the plug-in hybrid SUV sector with the arrival of the Starray EM-i Super Hybrid SUV.
A challenger to the Citroën C5 Aircross, Ford Kuga and MG HS, the Starray EM-i opens for orders in the UK from February with prices from £29,990.
It’s the Chinese brand’s second model in the UK following the EX5 all-electric SUV at the end of 2025.
Geely is part of Zhejiang Geely Holding Group – which also owns or has strategic stakes in Volvo Cars, Polestar, Lotus, Smart, Proton and Zeekr – and has big plans for over here under its new Geely Auto UK national sales company.
The Starray EM-i is designed and engineered from the ground up as a PHEV, helping to ensure optimum efficiency and strong driving performance, according to the carmaker.
The powertrain combine a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor, delivering up to 259hp and returning up to 201mpg. Power for the electric motor comes from either an 18.4kWh or 29.8kWh battery and the Starray EM-i has a WLTP electric-only range of up to 84 miles.
Geely has also worked closely with the experts at Lotus Engineering to refine its chassis and dynamics, resulting in a driving experience tailored to the UK.
Three trim levels will be available: the Pro from £29,990, Max from £32,690 and Ultra from £34,990.
The entry-level Starray EM-i Pro comes with heated electrically adjustable front seats, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and keyless entry. The Max model adds in features such as head-up display and wireless phone charging, while the Ultra gains the larger battery and increased charging capability.
Geely Auto UK is also offering access to charging services, teaming up for an Andersen A3 home charger offer and Octopus Energy tariff to make home charging straightforward and cost-effective.
All Starray EM-i models come with a comprehensive base warranty of eight years or 125,000 miles. Service intervals are set at 12 months / 10,000 miles.
Michael Yang, general manager at Geely Auto UK, said: “Whether it is the WLTP electric-only range of up to 84 miles or the premium technology fitted as standard across the range, the new Starray EM-i provides a stand-out, attainable proposition for those ready to embrace the benefits of a state-of-the-art super hybrid.”
