Jaecoo has expanded the line-up for its compact SUV with the arrival of a new full hybrid.
The Jaecoo 5 SHS-H joins the existing pure petrol and fully electric variants, delivering a further option for drivers.
Available from £26,270, the full-hybrid model is designed to support efficient, everyday driving without the need to plug in.
The powertrain from Chery International, already seen in the Omoda 5 SHS-H and the larger Jaecoo 7 SHS-H, pairs a 1.5-litre turbo petrol with a dedicated DHT automatic transmission, delivering a combined output of up to 224hp.
With a 1.83kWh battery and a 51-litre fuel tank, the Jaecoo 5 SHS-H delivers a total driving range of more than 650 miles and fuel economy of up to 53mpg (WLTP). It’s also able to accelerate from 0-62mph in 7.9 seconds.
The full-hybrid version retains the same exterior design, interior layout and specification structure as the existing Jaecoo 5.
Grades span Pure and Luxury trims. The entry-level Pure specification comes with a 13.2-inch portrait-format touchscreen, a six-speaker Sony audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, alongside a wide range of advanced driver assistance systems.
The Luxury grade is priced from £29,765 and adds in an eight-speaker Sony audio system, a tilt-and-slide sunroof measuring 1.45m2, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, plus heated and ventilated front seats.
The launch follows Jaecoo’s record March sales; the Jaecoo 7 became Britain’s best-selling car last month, shifting over 10,000 units.
Victor Zhang, deputy CEO at Chery International UK, said: “The Jaecoo 5 has always been about being easy to live with day to day – practical, comfortable, and capable when you need it. Adding a full-hybrid option just builds on that and provides more options to our customers.”
The Jaecoo 5 SHS-H will be available with the brand’s seven-year/100,000-mile vehicle warranty and eight-year/100,000-mile warranty on the battery.
UK customer deliveries are expected from Q3 2026.
