Jaecoo has bookended the line-up for its J7 midsize family SUV with a full hybrid model and a new Black Luxury edition to give added choice.

On sale from May, the additions include the new entry-level Jaecoo 7 SHS-H, which brings a full hybrid model priced from £29,195.

Arriving alongside the existing petrol and plug-in hybrid models, the J7 SHS-H is positioned as the lead-in model and introduces a full hybrid variant for the first time.

The powertrain, already seen in the 5 SHS-H SUV launched by sister brand Omoda earlier this year, comes from parent company Chery International and features its proprietary Super Hybrid System (SHS), now designated as SHS-P for plug-in hybrid and SHS-H for full hybrid.

It’s powered by the same 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine already offered in the Jaecoo 7 line-up, paired with a motor to give 224hp, a 0-62mph time of 8.3 seconds and a top speed of 112mph. CO2 emissions stand at 125g/km with an extra-urban fuel economy of 53mpg (WLTP).

It shares the same exterior dimensions and SUV styling as the existing SHS plug-in hybrid model – now badged as the SHS-P – offering an alternative hybrid ownership.

Delivering a new rival to the MG HS Hybrid+ as well as the Kia Sportage plus the Tiggo 7 from sister brand Chery, the Jaecoo 7 SHS-H is available in two trim levels – Pure and Deluxe. The former comes with tweed cloth upholstery, a 13.2-inch infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, refrigerated centre-console, dual-zone climate control, and a six-speaker sound system, plus front and rear parking sensors as standard.

The Deluxe model, priced from £32,795, builds on this with eco-leather upholstery, an eight-speaker sound system and a 14.8-inch infotainment screen, among other upgrades.

At the other end of the line-up, the new Jaecoo 7 SHS-P Black Luxury edition adds in a distinctive elite model. Available with the plug-in hybrid SHS powertrain and offered exclusively in top-of-the-range Luxury specification, it introduces a stylish black theme throughout and is priced from £36,500.

The blacked-out design treatment includes a black front grille, black logo suite across the vehicle, and a black ‘Luxury’ C-pillar badge. Further full black detailing includes black mirrors, roof, wheels and roof rails, as well as interior elements such as a black headliner and sun visors.

The Jaecoo 7 SHS-P Black Luxury and the J7 SHS-H will be available to order from the brand’s network of 122 UK dealers from May 2026.
